British Damage Management Association
The British Damage Management Association is the certifying body for property recovery and restoration professionals, which include damage management practitioners and others involved in relevant aspects of property claims across the wider insurance industry. In addition to providing accreditation the BDMA delivers a range of education and training packages.
The Association contributes to setting industry standards and in 2015 chaired development of the new British Standard for Damage Management (BS 12999) by the BSI. It participates in insurance led think tanks and wider research initiatives, was instrumental in establishing Sustainable Damage Management Guidelines as part of a ClimateWise Sustainable Claims Management initiative, and works with key stakeholders across the wider industry towards cross sector collaboration and information sharing.
In surge situations the BDMA collates information which is used to inform a wide range of interested parties. This resource, which was most recently utilised during the Winter Storms of 2016-2017, is proving increasingly valuable in both private and public sectors.
