BSI

Andy Tagg is a Chartered Civil Engineer with 35 years’ experience with HR Wallingford and Thames Water. He has worked on most aspects of the water environment, including catchment water resources, flooding and water quality. His current technical interests include design and protection of buildings to improve their flood resilience, and the development of tools to improve emergency management during flood events, including the simulation of people’s responses to flood hazards and the calculation of loss of life. He is currently involved in several initiatives linked to flood resilience, including being a member of the Defra Resilience Roundtable, and the Chairman of BSI Committee CB/501 which covers ‘flood risk and watercourses’. In connection with the latter role, he also oversees the testing of flood protection products at HR Wallingford, which provides the main test facility on behalf of BSI and the Environment Agency (EA).
