Dr. Thornton is the Director of the Engineering Research and Hydraulics Laboratory at Colorado State University. He has been responsible for developing the test facility and analysis to evaluate protection systems from steady and unsteady overtopping.
Estimating grass slope resiliency during wave overtopping
The objective of this presentation will be to detail the testing and analysis that has been conducted on vegetated systems used for flood and levee protection. Test results of vegetation both natural and reinforced with High Performance Turf Reinforcement Mats on two soil types will be presented and subsequent analysis discussed.
