Colonel Drummond joined the Army in 1996. Commissioned from Sandhurst into an infantry regiment, Colonel Drummond has served on operations in Northern Ireland, Iraq and Afghanistan and numerous domestic and overseas exercises. He has experience of deploying military personnel on operations in the UK at the tactical level and is currently responsible for the day-to-day running of Defence’s operational level, UK resilience operations HQ.

MOD support in response to flooding in the UK

Defence support to the civil authorities in the UK is delivered under the principles of Military Aid to the Civil Authorities (MACA). MACA policy changed in February 2017. In his presentation, Colonel Drummond will summarise MACA policy, analyse a number of recent Defence deployments in response to UK flooding, and look to the future in terms of where civil authority and Defence activity may be more closely aligned.
