Roy Shevlin has been working in the insurance industry for over 31 years. At Cunningham Lindsey, he started as a practicing adjuster and progressed via a number of increasingly senior roles, taking up his current post as Building Consultancy Services Director in 2013. Linking the research work on water resilience Cunningham Lindsey are undertaking with BRE, DEFRA, the University of West England and others, Roy is leading a project team to explore the causes of rising costs in escape of water claims and how Cunningham Lindsey can apply their expertise and technology to help their clients. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters, an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Graham Brogden has worked for Aviva, either directly or indirectly, for over 18 years. He has spent the past seven years working in the property repair division (Aviva Claims Services) and has recently moved to a new role, Head of Technical Claims for Property and Specialist Risks. Graham has been actively involved in flood events over the years including the floods in Cumbria and Yorkshire. He is also the current chair of the Property Flood Resilience Action Group and a member of the BERG (Business Emergency Resilience Group) leadership team which is part of Business in the Community.

Flood: are you prepared?

Roy and Graham will look at the ways in which the round table is looking to make resilience a staple consideration for building owners and occupiers. They will cover overcoming the challenges of creating an efficient emergency response, setting technical standards, pooling data to gather the evidence base, assisting properties outside Flood Re and the ways in which building an effective communication strategy can cost effectively reduce the flood risk to businesses.
